Litigation/Liability Claim Manager (Hybrid)

Our firm is currently recruiting for high level claim professionals for a growing national specialty insurance company.


JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for handling assigned claims from initial assignment to closure as well as provide assistance in various administrative functions associated with the liability lines of business such as Automobile Liability, General Liability, Employers Liability, Public Entity, Cyber, Excess, Umbrella, and Construction Liability.

Conduct thorough coverage review and determination; evaluate exposure to the Company.

Establish and maintain timely expense and indemnity reserves based on department procedures.


Proactively maintain ongoing case evaluations and litigation management, including the selection and monitoring of counsel in accordance with department litigation guidelines; direct and advise Third Party Administrator (TPA) regarding claim handling and reporting.


Identify cost-effective resolution strategies; directly or indirectly negotiate claim settlements within established authority level with direct reporting to supervisor on settlements over authority limits.


Provide inventory oversight, analyze case strategy and prepare timely reports and documentation of claim files as required by department procedures.


Support internal business partners through timely knowledge sharing of large claim exposures, business trends and status of business relationships.


Process reimbursement requests, pre-funding, and payments of vendor invoices within authority limits.


Identify claims with reinsurance and provide initial and subsequent updates according to department procedures.


Coordinate with the Workers’ Compensation Claims Managers the handling of Employers Liability claims.


Travel as required to meet business needs (for example, Mediations, Mock Trials, Trials, Client Meetings, TPA Audits, Industry Seminars and Conferences.


QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of active litigation or adjusting higher exposure, complex Automobile Liability, General Liability, Employers Liability, Public Entity, Cyber, Excess, Umbrella, Umbrella and/or Construction Liability claims. Experience in multiple jurisdictions with an insurance carrier or Third Party Administrator is preferred.


Experience with all phases of claims litigation from inception through post judgment preferred, including complex mediations, settlement conferences and trials.

Experience analyzing coverage issues and drafting reservation of rights and coverage letters.

Must have strong organizational and analytical skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be a motivated, self-starter with the ability to work independently and to prioritize high-volume workload.

Must be proficient with Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook.

Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university required. JD desired.

AIC, SCLA or CLCS designation preferred.
